VALLETTA GLOWS IN THE DARK

Yesterday evening, Valletta was yet again the backdrop of another innovative street sport event organised by MOVE. The street lights that illuminate Pjazza San Ġorġ in Valletta were switched off to make space for ultraviolet lighting, creating a surreal atmosphere as it beamed on street sports equipment, apparel, and makeup, making them glow in the dark.

The public, the volunteers from MOVE, all of whom are MCAST Sports Students, as well as volunteers from SPARK 15, a local organisation that promotes integration, had a blast running around in this atypical environment.

MOVE uses street sports as a tool to bring about social change and cohesion while enabling young people overcome barriers that would otherwise hinder them from being physically active.

This event forms part of ‘SHAKE IT’, a cultural programme that MOVE is running as part of the European City of Culture programme under the patronage of the Valletta 2018 Foundation, and in collaboration with MCAST and the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector.
