MOVE WINS ANOTHER AWARD
The core team members who worked on the entitled Shake IT!, which MOVE implemented back 2018, were awarded the Charlemagne Youth Prize for Malta 2019 by the European Commission on recognition of the efforts they made to bring young people together through street sports activities.
About Shake It!
Together with a highly motivated group of MCAST sports students, we transformed various public squares into temporary playgrounds by setting up a street soccer pitch, a foot volley and other stations at City Gate and in Pjazza San Ġorġ, both in Valletta, as well as in various localities such as in Kalkara and Żejtun and Għarb. Passers-by, including many tourists, migrants and young people, had the opportunity to play and discover this innovative street sport concept “in between buildings” as they played in a safe and healthy environment.
The events encouraged community engagement, leaving a positive impact and the participants and the communities where they were held.
