The GAME Box

THE GAME BOX

Inspired by the need to create an innovative and inclusive space on campus, MOVE turned an underutilized place at MCAST (the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology Malta College for the Arts), which is one of Malta’s leading colleges, into an innovative and vibrant space promoting a myriad of street sports activities.

To reach this objective, we have teamed up with MCAST and young people to re-imagine this space together. A hub made of a 45-foot shipping container was repurposed to create a hub where young people could hang around, transforming it into the “GAME BOX”. The project includes an indoor and an outdoor “out of the box” space which promotes street sports, providing a fun and fertile ground for creativity and healthy social interaction on campus. By involving the students, lecturers and staff in the process, this space brought together a shared vision of a healthy liveable space for all.

Through this Hub, MOVE aims at providing support and training to students, eventually recruiting them as “community leaders” who would then lead activities to fellow students at the College, as well as in the community in general after school hours.

The Hub was launched on the 13th of February, 2019 in the presence of Minister for Education & Employment Hon. Evarist Bartolo MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Hon. Clifton Grima MP, and a delegation from GAME Denmark, headed by Director Morten Andersen.
