BULLSEYE FOR CHARITY
The Malta Darts Association, in collaboration with the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability, Breaking Limits, the Kalkara Local Council and other organisations, organised a charity event in Kalkara, entitle Bullseye for Charity, in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
Activities included accessible darts, darts open competition, Ford classic car show, various singing and dancing shows by Street Elements hip-hop artists, breakdance battles, and animal blessing. MOVE set up a football pitch where local National Team Futsal players played blind football against the public. We also set up a slackline where the public was challenged to walk along a suspended length of flat webbing tensioned between two anchors.
Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta, and Hon. Clifton Grima MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Youths, Sports and Voluntary Organisations attended this event.
MOVE uses street sports as a tool to bring about social change and cohesion while enabling young people overcome barriers that would otherwise hinder them from being physically active.
The event forms part of ‘SHAKE IT’, a cultural programme that MOVE is running as part of the European City of Culture programme under the patronage of the Valletta 2018 Foundation, and in collaboration with MCAST and the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, and GasanMamo Insurance.
